Ingrown tail, screw-tail or corkscrew tail is a condition found in English Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Pugs and Boston Terriers. The anatomical malformation causes curling of the tail with chronic skin fold inflammation, infection and pain. Medical treatment is often unsatisfactory in affected dogs, due to the underlying anatomical abnormalities, and in these patients caudectomy (partial or complete) is the treatment of choice.
