Caudectomy

Ingrown tail, screw-tail or corkscrew tail is a condition found in English Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Pugs and Boston Terriers. The anatomical malformation causes curling of the tail with chronic skin fold inflammation, infection and pain. Medical treatment is often unsatisfactory in affected dogs, due to the underlying anatomical abnormalities, and in these patients caudectomy (partial or complete) is the treatment of choice. 

How much does a caudectomy cost?

The all inclusive fee is $900.00 for patients under 22 pounds / $1,400.00 for patients over 22 pounds / $1,800.00 for bulldogs

This includes:

  • Intake Physical Examination
  • Pre-Anesthetic Bloodwork: CBC, full chemistry panel, clotting profile when indicated
  • EKG
  • I.V. Catheter
  • I.V. Fluids
  • Pre-Anesthetic analgesia drugs
  • Anesthesia induction drugs tailored to the individual patient
  • Anesthesia Maintenance on isoflurane
  • Caudectomy Surgery with CO2 Cutting Laser
  • Anesthesia monitoring by: EKG, CO2 end tidal, O2 saturation, Blood pressure, body temperature
  • Post-surgical recovery monitoring
  • Post-surgical therapy laser treatment
  • Hospitalization as required
  • Take home medications
  • Recheck appointments
