Dr. John Wight
Dr. John Wight grew up in Orlando, FL. After a tour in the United States Marine Corps he returned to Orlando and completed his undergraduate work preparing for vet school.
In 1991 he moved to Gainesville, FL for graduate studies at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. Graduating in May, 1995, Dr. Wight was selected for an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK. After OSU, he returned to Orlando and entered private practice.
From 1999 to 2016 Dr. Wight served dozens of Central Florida veterinary clinics as a "visiting surgeon". By partnering with the veterinary clinics and hospitals they were able to offer more options for surgery, benefiting the clients, the patients, and the clinics. In 2017 Dr. Wight moved to Fort Walton Beach, FL and opened Veterinary Surgery Service Inc, a veterinary referral practice offering advanced diagnostic and surgical procedures.
When he's not practicing veterinary medicine and surgery, Dr. Wight enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors. He's an avid cyclist and triathlete and has run several marathons and an Ironman triathlon. In 2010 he climbed Mt. Whitney (14,500 ft.) with two nephews, and in 2011 he and his son rode their bicycles from San Francisco, CA to Charleston, SC. Blessed with an awesome wife and four wonderful kids, life is definitely an adventure.
